OUTGOING GRAND COMMANDER'S MESSAGE
Sir Knights,
This is my last message to you as Grand Commander. I thank each and every one of you for your trust in allowing me to progress to this very prestigious position.
During this past year, we've had our ups and downs but, all in all, it's been a great year for the Grand Commandery of Knights Templar of Oregon. Some highlights are: We sponsored Masonic Night at the PGE Ball Park where 121 Masonic family members enjoyed a great ball game. This was made possible by Sir Knights Ray Carroll and Jerry Thompson. In Astoria in June, 86 Masons and their family members and friends enjoyed an evening of Mozart and the Masons. Everyone enjoyed an evening of beautiful music and a brief lecture on Mozart's place in Masonic history. After the concert, everyone was invited to a wine and cheese reception at the Valley Bronze Gallery which provided an opportunity to meet the singers and to view beautiful art including sculpture and paintings. Our third Renaissance Dinner was held in Eugene on a rainy night in November, the same night that Oregon State University and the University of Oregon were playing a game. The dinner was well attended and was a huge success, thanks to Sir Knights Richard Harris (soup and vegetable chef), Sid Roberts (poultry and pork chef), John Smith and his lady Judy, Dalvin Hollaway and his lady Shirley, and Dan Hepler and his merry crew for the all important after-dinner cleanup. The delicious cuisine was the highlight of the evening. Many Masons and their families were in colorful period costumes and that contributed to the charming ambience of the evening.
Each of these events was held in a different part of the state so that as many Sir Knights as possible could attend. This strategy seemed successful. I thank each and every one of you for your help and dedication. I think that the more intriguing activities we have, the more our Commanderies will flourish.
I'll close with two quotes. The first is from Henry Ford, "Don't find fault, find a remedy." The second is from Franklin D. Roosevelt, "When you come to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on!"

Courteously,
Dan Crockett, Grand Commander 2006-07
