![]() Most Eminent Grand Master JANUARY 2007
As we begin this new year, we are reminded that this is a time to make resolutions to improve our lives during the course of the next 365 days. I would hope that you would also make resolutions to improve our beloved Freemasonry in general and Templary in particular. A new year brings with it fresh ideas and a clean slate for the future. Please take a moment to resolve that you will personally assist your Masonic bodies with your time and efforts, both in making our fraternity work better and in recruiting new members. The 39th Annual Voluntary Campaign of the Knights Templar Eye Foundation is in full swing. On behalf of the Board of Trustees" I would encourage you to donate as you are able, but more importantly; to work with your Commandery to have a successful fund-raiser to benefit the Campaign. For the last fifty years we have been helping to prevent blindness for those who cannot help themselves. Let us all keep up the good work started a half century ago. Our travels next month will take us to Washington, DC, for Masonic Week and to Portland, Oregon, for the Conference of Grand Masters of North America. A busy schedule of Annual Conclaves and Department Conferences will resume in March. I look forward to meeting with many of you "on the circuit." ![]() Sir Knight Richard Burditt Baldwin Most Eminent Grand Master 2006 - 2009 ![]() ![]() REVEREND & SK ROBERT J. Fischer, GCT Past Grand Master of the Grand Encampment, Past President of the Knights Templar Eye Foundation, and Trustee of the Board of the KTEF
We can do this by one of two ways. One way is to reduce the budget to a point thatwould probably not be acceptable to you, themembers. The other is to redouble our efforts in fundraising. As many of you heard in the business sessions at the 63rd Triennial, the fund raising which has been previously conducted to the benefit of the Grand Encampment is now to be directed to the benefit of the Knights Templar Eye Foundation. This will take a while, perhaps a year or so, to accomplish. In the mean time, we all need to redouble our efforts to raise funds for the Eye Foundation. Every Commandery should have some form of fund-raising activity no matter how small it may seem. Every penny counts. With some 145,000 members it is possibleto accomplish great things. When you are selling the KTEF to people outside the fraternity, it would be very helpful for you to have a copy of the "new" brochure, which tells our story very graphically. A Commandery program on the Eye Foundation, which discusses this brochure and makes the active members more knowledgeable, would be of great benefit. The better informed we are on this subject, the better job we can do in selling the non-Templars on the benefit of giving to the KTEF. Everyone should be aware that theEye Foundation is a 501-C3 charity and that all donations are tax deductible. Won't you step up and see that your Commandery participates in this effort? Let's make the next 50 years for the Eye Foundation much better than the first 50! Thank You, Kenneth B. Fischer Past Grand Master and Past President and Trustee, KTEF Sir Knight Kenneth B. Colorado River Fall Festival Knights 77 ![]()
After registration and orientation on Sunday, October 15, casts and crews put forth the Capitular and Cryptic degrees on Monday, October 16. Each new Mark Master received a commemorative "half shekel of silver" for his mark and to mark his advancement. The work continued with the Illustrious Order of the Red Cross, the Order of Malta, and the Order of the Temple on Tuesday, with a dinner-dance for all Companions and Sir Knights and their ladies and guests in the evening. During the banquet, 12 senior members of the festival committee received special "Gold Talents" (gold-plated half-shekels) in recognition of their many hours of service over the 16 falls in which the Festival has been held. The Colorado River York Rite Festival began in 1991 in Bullhead City, Arizona. It soon moved across the Colorado River to Laughlin, immediately on the Nevada side. The Festival has happily made its home at Don Laughlin's Riverside Resort and Casino for the last few years. More than 900 Master Masons have received some or all of the degrees and orders of the York Rite at the hands of degree teams from the participating states and guest teams from as far away as Massachusetts. The Festival customarily confers the Super-Excellent Master Degree or the Royal Arch Widow Degree in alternating years. Formal banquets usually have themes, but the theme is almost never "speakers' night!" The 2007 Colorado River Fall Festival will be held at the Riverside in Laughlin, October 21-23. Details and registration materials are at www.crff.org. Sir Knight David G. Stankow wrote and submitted the article and picture. He is a Past Commander of DeWitt Clinton Commandery No. 1, Reno, Nevada; the Grand Recorder of the Grand Commandery of Arizona; and Honorary Grand Prelate of the Grand Commandery of California. He lives in Mesa, Arizona. Connecticut Grand Commandery Drill Team ![]() ![]()
