A Message from Sir Knight T. Jeffery Conquest, KCT
General Chairman of the 40th Annual Campaign for the KTEF,
Trustee of the Board of the KTEF, and P.G.C. of Indiana

    Greetings, Sir Knights:
At a couple of Department Conferences, it was brought to my attention that many Sir Knights are unaware of how to sponsor patients for eye care. In response to several requests, I began in December this article, "How to Sponsor a Case Through Your Foundation," and have continued it in January, February, and now in the March issue. The article in its entirety can be obtained from the office of the KTEF.
I want to thank all those who have supported the Voluntary Campaign with their generous contributions and passion for curing eye disease. Please continue to support your Eye Foundation.
It is very important that the sponsoring Knight Templar read and familiarize himself with these forms so that all the necessary information is submitted and that all instructions are followed. The sponsoring Sir Knight acts as a representative of the Eye Foundation and is expected to be of assistance in the handling of the case as it becomes necessary. This may involve providing information or assistance to the applicant and occasionally contacting the doctor or hospital to gather information or to explain the purpose and policies of the Foundation. It has been our experience that most physicians and hospitals will cooperate with our Foundation, once they are made aware that we are a charitable organization supported solely by an assessment on our membership and contributions from concerned individuals and groups: Numerous pamphlets and other materials are available to Sir Knights through our office, at no cost, to assist them in explaining our Foundation to interested parties.
Upon receipt of statements from doctors and hospitals for authorized cases, we will process these statements promptly and remit our payments to the-extent of our authorization for that particular case. In the event any correspondence regarding the case is necessary, the sponsoring Knight Templar will receive a copy of all letters written, as well as copies of any pertinent supporting information, so that he may be informed of any developments pertaining to the case. (END)
    T. Jeffery Conquest, P.G.C.
    General Chairman of the Campaign
Trustee of the Board of KTEF

Sir Knight Charles E. Ebright, KTCH, KTEF Representative for St. Bernard Commandery, Dover, Ohio, and Ms. Laura Rosenberg of the Ohio Ophthalmological Society share a table presenting information about the KTEF and safety eye protection for young athletes playing all types of sports. The following are words of thanks received by Sir Knight William P. Orr, Chairman of the Knights Temp/ar Eye Foundation Committee of Wichita Falls Commandery No. 59, Wichita Falls, Texas:
I do not have the adequate vocabulary to fully express my gratitude to you and the Knights Templar for your generosity in enabling me to have eye surgery. My life has changed dramatically for the better. Specifically, I have become literate in the use of a personal computer. I am now enrolled in vocational rehabilitation and anticipate finding an online occupation. My eighty-five percent hearing loss prevents me from returning to the fields of my previous careers. Thanks to the cataract surgery, I am entering new worlds.
    Nocona, Texas
It has been half a year since my husband had his eye operation. You made it possible, and you will never know what that has and will always mean to us.
