I was born in Billings, Montana December 16, 1954 and shortly after moved to Great Falls Montana where I grew up. I graduated from Great Falls High School in 1973 and then received a B.S. degree in Secondary Education from Eastern Montana Collage in 1977. Upon graduation I obtained a job teaching business and PE in Grass Range, Montana as well as coaching basketball and track. It was during this two year stay that I married my wife of 38 years, Jan Bowman Duffy. We have two sons, Ryan age 36, married with two children and Chad age 33. After teaching in Grass Range, my career took a big change and for the next 36 years I was a grocery warehouseman for Supervalu in Billings retiring in December of 2015. I enjoy the leisure time of retirement watching my two grandchildren, keeping up with all sports at every level, and training my newest project a 1 year old golden retriever puppy.
My Masonic journey began in Rimrock Lodge 149 on April 29, 1995 with my EA degree. My brother Tom Duffy was my guide (SD) and my dad James Duffy presented me with my white leather apron, what a wonderful start to my Masonic career! I took my FC 9-27-95 and my MM degree 12-2-95. I started my York Rite journey in Great Falls at the George Washington Convocation Feb. 14, 2007 and became a member of Billings Chapter 6. I took the Council Degrees and became a member of Adoniram Council 8 on March 8, 2008 and then took the Commandery Orders on March 8, 2008 and joined Aldermar Commandery 5. I served as the head of all three of my local bodies and then became involved with the Grand York Rite of Montana serving as the Most Excellent Grand High Priest of Montana in 2015-2016. I was recently elected Right Eminent Grand Commander of Montana and will serve for the 2017-18 year. Over the past ten years I have become a member of several appendant York Right Bodies which include Allied Masonic Degrees-Treasure State Council #50, York Rite College of North America-Big Sky #74, Knights York Cross of Honor-Montana Priory #51, and Red Cross of Constantine-Oro y Plata Conclave (Billings, MT).
